I upgraded from a amd hd 6770 to a amd r9 280. I have a Msi 970A-G46 motherboard With a 750 watt thermaltake power supply. I plugged in my new card the fans spin but there is no beep when you start it up and no display what so ever. I plugged the old card in and everything worked just fine. Is there something I am missing? I don't want to rma it and realize later that it was something easy I forgot to do.

I wish, no it uses a 8 pin connector and a 6 pin connector both are connected directly from the power supply. Perhaps not enough wattage? I cant imagine I'd need more power, I only have a optical drive, hdd, cpu, mbo, and 3 fans.

I was wondering if the machine was switched on between graphic card changeover and BIOS defaulted to onboard graphics. Then again, you reverted to the old one and it worked. If you have onboard, go ito BIOS and select Default Settings and try again. Then select the new GPU if it's been identified.
