Samsung S4 is not recognizing my SD Cards

hi, i just bought a brand new 16gb SDHC memory card for my Samsung S4 but the phone wont recognise it. in fact the phone wont recognize ANY SD cards, the card works fine in my partners Samsung S3 4G..
