Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with my computer not being able to access my RAM. It used to be able to see all 12GB, but now it only sees 4GB and I only noticed the problem when a simulation program (MATLAB) was running far slower than it used to.
To get some things out of the way:
Yes, I've re-seated it about 15 different times in various configurations and cleaned the slots.
Yes it's 64-bit.
Yes I've checked the msconfig settings
No, my UEFI doesn't have a memory remapping tool
Yes, I've tried reinstalling my OS and even upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7.
Yes, I've run memtest and the remaining sticks are good.
Computer Specs:
Mobo - ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional
CPU - AMD FX-8120
Memory - Kingston HyperX Genesis (KHX1600C9D3/4G) x 3 (4th stick went bad and was pulled out a few years ago.)
Graphics - Crossfired AMD Radeon HD 6970 x 2
I sent in a ticket to ASRock several days ago, but with no luck. I'm hopeful you guys will be able to help. Anything other specs you need, please let me know.
