OK this is kind of a long story...see I'm a Desktop Support Engineer and I've run into an issue with my friend's Seagate Backup Plus 500 GB External USB Drive. See the problem occurred when a friend of my friend wanted me to reinstall Windows on his PC. It was not planned and on the spot...given his specs I suggested Windows XP but I didn't have a flash drive or any media on me that could backup his files before I started the install of XP so my friend happen to have his Seagate 500gb drive on him so we used that...the problem occurred when I installed XP and the External Seagate Drive was still attached...the XP install ended up formatting his External Drive and putting XP on it as well as the C drive of the PC I was doing it on(just to let you know the XP Setup never said anything about an additional or external drive, it just did it anyway). So I recovered the Data using EaseUs Data Recovery for both my friends and they are both all good now except for the fact that the External Seagate Drive no longer is reconignized by ANY PC as the default Seagate Backup Drive setting(what I mean is by default and what comes stock when you first buy the drive[perhaps this is the GoFlex option, it's not my drive so I'm not 100 percent sure on how to define it])...instead the External Drive is seen as an additional HD or Secondary Drive(it says "Local J:" just like "Local C:" for an example). So I got the Seagate Dashboard Software hoping to reformat the External to the old setting(we already recovered all his files and they're on his PC's C: Drive) but even though Windows XP(that's my friend's OS) sees the drive and can access the files easily, the Seagate Dashboard Software doesn't see the External at all and yes I reconnected the drive via it's USB connection after I launched the Dashboard Program just to make sure...

Any suggestions?
