I already have a build on pcpartpicker however, I wanted to get some feedback from the community on my build. I also want to know if I can make this build any cheaper (without sacrificing much performance, reliability, and its long-lasting ability) because right now its a little above my price range. BTW heads up, on my computer I unchecked the box for "mail-in-rebates" on pcpartpicker in the settings. So when/if you guys edit my build on pcpartpicker please don't include mail-in-rebates because I don't want to deal with them. And if you don't want to edit the build on pcpartpicker you could just suggest things or leave a link. Any help/reviews/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Most must last me 4-5 years because I don't plan on upgrading soon. especially for the expensive parts

Approximate Purchase Date: within a year or so

Budget Range: $600-$720 before rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, web browsing, watching shows and movies

Parts Not Required: Mouse, OS, Monitor

Country: USA

Overclocking: The thing about overclocking is that I was told by people on tomshardware that if I wanted my PC to last long, 4-5 years, then I should get an overclockable CPU, even if I won't be overclocking anytime soon. Thats why I picked the i5 K series CPU. If any of you have a different take on this please share.

Solution

If you want to have a better GPU, a more reliable HDD and a SSD then drop the i5 to a 4460 and a h97 anniversay
As I previously said
Get the i5 4460, r9 280x, a 120GB SSD or smaller and a western digital hard drive as the seagate barracudas are known to fail

You probably won't overclock at all since I guess this happens to be your first build..
Plus there are big risks involved when overclocking and im pretty sure you don't want to buy another CPU
So just go with the i5 4460 and the other stuff I recommended you, and you'll be set

seeing it must last 4-5 years and you gonna OC it without upgradeing, id highly advice getting a case with removeable dust filters, and a aftermarket cpu cooler(must for Oc'ing)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2
(Comes with thermal paste)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-case-200r

But then again you say it might take a whole year before you buy it, and prices in hardware changes like overnight, it might be pointless to even set a build up now, only to buy a year late when build most likely outperformed both in cost and performence.

He said he wants to lower not increase the budget!

I won't OC right away so can't I just get a CPU cooler when i OC? and also I just want a solid base build that way when I do have the money I will readjust the build but I won't have to start from scratch

If you want to save money without losing gaming performance ditch the overclocking idea and get an I5-4460.

Yeah, that's a good build
If you get a non k processor like the 4460 and a h97 mobo, then you would save a lot of money but the PC will last as long
If you are going for a 4460 and a h97 anniversary mobo then I recommend you go for the western digital caviar blue 1TB hdd, and add a small ssd in there
With the money left over, get the r9 280x

an i5 4460 isnt Overclockable i heard. Also I considered an H97 however its only one dollar less than the Z97

That would increase the budget.

@Gogeta: You don't need to overclock, especially with a 280.

Ok looks like ill drop to a 4460 and won't be OC thanks. But do I really need to upgrade to a 280x? the h97 anniversary mobo has bad reviews on newegg so should i just stick with the z97? also i don't think i need an sdd unless you convince me otherwise
