Hey guys,
Not sure if this is the correct forum feel free to move if so.

Okay, so I have an FX-6300 and an MSI Radeon R9 270 which I am told are very power hungry.

I need to know my absolute minimim PSU wattage I should be using, I previously used a pretty cheap atx 500w PSU which cost me about £8. It sparked the other day and died.
Lucky for me it was just the PSU that broke and nothing else was damaged.
Okay, so I go to my local computer store to buy a new PSU, I told them the problems I had and they reccomended me the "CIT atx power supply" which came in a fancy blue box and cost me £25. But this PSU is only 480w but they convinced me that it would be fine.

I really don't want my PSU to blow again, is this PSU fine for me to use?

System specs:
FX-6300 3.5ghz (3.8ghz boosted)
MSI Radeon R9 270
6gb ddr3 1333mhz RAM (4gb+2gb)
M5A78L-M LX V2 MoBo
1TB sata HDD 5600rpm

I appreciate the advice, but that's not really what i'm asking.

I want to know if my current PSU will be fine with components, if not, I will look into another PSU although I would like some advice on that part also.

Thanks for the response.
So, does keeping this PSU risk another blowing up episode?

Actually, the PSU i'm using does have a 6-pin connector for my GPU, no molex needed.

Okay, thanks for the response.

I can see from peoples advice that my current PSU isn't the way to go.
My friend is upgrading his PSU to a 1300w for whatever crazy stuff he's putting in his pc, he's offered me his 2month old Corsair 750w PSU (don't know the exact name) Will this suffice?
