AMD A8-5600K overclocked with CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO

Hello, this is my first post, but please don't treat me like a total newbie. I have a couple of small, related questions.

The other day, I purchased a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO cooler, with the intent of overclocking my A8-5600K CPU. I used Asus AI Suite II's automatic overclocking tool (don't hate - I know professionals cringe at the idea of this stuff, but it worked surprisingly well).

Note: I enabled something, not quite sure what exactly, which allows the clock to run as low as 1.4GHz when under low load.

AI Suite raised the clock speed to 4.3GHz. I then ran a Prime95 test for a short while, and the system eventually froze (no BSOD, just hung) so I manually lowered the clock speed to 4.2GHz. This time, the Prime95 test ran perfectly for a good number of hours with no issues.

The highest temperature I saw reported in AI Suite (I tried all 3 test modes) was 51'C. Is this a good temperature for this CPU & cooler combination in mid-spring time?

PS: If you need more info, such as fan setup, I will provide it in a comment below as opposed to bulking up this main post.

Thermal margin seems to hang around 18-24 most of the time on Prime95's In-place large FFT test. The CPU's max. temperature is about 70'C, meaning that my results appear to be accurate enough in AI Suite.

However, right as I type this sentence I'm seeing a lot of 'possible hardware failure' messages on the 4th core in the test window, but the system itself is perfectly stable and the 4th core still shows activity, but its test thread stopped. Should I be particularly worried?
EDIT: The same happened again, on the same core. Core 4 is less stable than the rest it seems. HOWEVER, for some reason my clock speed reverted itself to 4.3 instead of 4.2, as I just discovered while going to lower it. This one's gonna be tricky to find the cause of.

Ok I'm having major issues right now. Ever since I installed AMD Overdrive, my clock's been resetting itself to 4.3 every reboot, no matter what, even after I uninstalled Overdrive. This is obviously an issue, as 4.2 is the highest stable speed. Also, AMD Vision Control Center has some bugginess in its 'CPU Power' (clock speed) slider... The highest 2 settings are 4.3 or 3.2. Neither of which are useful. Is this software really necessary?

~~~~OFF TOPIC~~~~
My friend is looking to buy a prebuilt gaming system as his old one is having issues, and he is limited to a £300-£350 ($450-$520) budget. He has linked me to this one, http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M03W2HE , and he is looking for someone's opinion on whether it's worth buying.
Try running CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry portions both. There may be software conflicts ot registry errors causing that.
I use it monthly and have been for years.
Your friend would need to add a discrete gfx card if he plays at 1080p rez. The APU's integrated GPU is suitable for ~720p rez at best.
