Alright, since you guys are going to ask me anyways, I am running a MSI 970A-G43 motherboard (I know it is horrible for overclocking and has no VRM heatsink) But I was able to get a stable 4.2GHz overclock from the stock 3.5GHz. Some people are telling me this a bit far to be pushing this motherboard as it will get to hot. (I have a NZXT phantom full tower case, 2 x 200mm top exhaust, 120mm rear exhaust, 200mm side intake, 2 x 120mm side intake, and a 140mm front intake. My board gets warm, but not to hot in my opinion.)
My question however, is it worth it to overclock the FX 6300 if it isn't above 4 GHz? I have read a few threads about guys overclocking to something like 3.8 GHz. This seems off to me, considering to overclock you need to disable turbo core which already pushed the CPU to 4Ghz under stress.
To me it sounds like people are underclocking there 6300's if anything. Do i have the wrong idea? let me know.
