Hi, I've just put a pc together but the optical drive wasn't functioning. It had power but would not open, also it was being recognised in the bios. I tried a different drive out of my main pc and it got blown by the new pc. Tried the first drive in my main pc and it works perfectly. Any thoughts ??

The voltage sitting at the power coming from the psu to the drive and if you have some exposed wire you can check the current while a drive is connected. Disclaimer, messing with electrical stuff is done at your own risk.
