is i3 4160 compatible with msi z87 g43

Solution
Every desktop CPU manufactured in the last 10 years is 64 bit, so is the i3. This CPU is compatible with z87 motherboards, but you need to have the latest BIOS on it. Should not be an issue if it is a new board, but if used, make sure its previous owner updates BIOS first.

So my question wasn't about compatibility but more about the features of the two components. The Z87 chipset is designed for for computers using multiple graphics cards and ones that overclock the processor. If you don't plan on pursuing either of those, you can save some money and buy an H97 or H87 board. I makes sense if you want the Z87 chipset if you plan on doing those things later on (with a different processor [an Intel K processor]).

Just providing more information.
