I accidentally put the wrong end of a USB cable in the USB port...
The computer shut down right away. I think because of a short.

The computer wouldnt start up again, so I took the power off and removed the battery on the motherboard.

After waiting a while, I hooked everything up again. Unfortunately, it still doesn't start up.
There are no obvious signs of a true short...

Is the computer completely fried?

well, the funny thing is that it doesn't have a PSU.
It has an AC adapter. And if I look in the pc, I see that it's connected straight to the motherboard.
It's an HP 110 desktop series.

If I plug it in, however, I do see a little green light go on on the motherboard.

I have left de computer of the power the entire night, and just now I hooked it up again... bit still no start up.

I got it to work again.
Don't ask me why, but I'll tell you how.

I have removed everything for the motherboard. All plugs. all jumpers, all RAM... Everything.

I then blew all the dust away... And started putting everything back together.

Some how, some way... That worked. To me, it is a mystery, because I knew why the system shut off, it was a short circuit in the USB caused by my own stupidity. I was sure something was fried... But it appears to be, dust or a bad cable connection. WEIRD!
But i'm happy with it nonetheless!

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. Some USB plugs are way too easy to put in the wrong way if not paying close attention. Yours may or may not be bad but at least you are able to use the pc so it was a lesson learned moment. Good luck and enjoy.
