So I am finally pulling the trigger on a liquid cooling set-up. I read through several threads, that were very helpful, and came up with the following parts list below. I want to air cool the case and liquid cool my CPU and GPU. I want to start small with room to expand if I decide to get another GPU in the future. I am more interested in performance rather than aesthetics and would like the best price to performance products. I have looked on frozencpu.com, but it is not very "beginner" friendly. I have heard good things about EK products, so I picked out several parts from EK.

Please let me know if there are other reputable brands or other specific products that I should look at.

Parts:

CPU Water Block: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/19630/ex-blc-1445/EK_Supremacy_EVO_Universal_CPU_Liquid_Cooling_Block_-_Acetal_Nickel_EK-Supremacy_EVO_-_AcetalNickel.html?id=M4e6poUR&mv_pc=7829

GPU Backplate: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/25983/ex-blc-1926/EK_Gigabyte_GTX_970_WF3_Backplate_-_Black_EK-FC970_GTX_WF3_Backplate_-_Black.html?id=M4e6poUR&mv_pc=7830

Radiator: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14315/ex-rad-311/EK_Ultimate_Performance_CoolStream_240_XTX_Series_Liquid_Cooling_Radiator_EK-CoolStream_RAD_XTX_240.html?id=M4e6poUR&mv_pc=7832

Reservoir/Pump: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/21022/ex-pmp-251/EK_D5_X-RES_Top_100_w_D5_Vario_Pump_EK-XRES_100_D5_Vario_incl_pump.html?tl=g57c595s1938&id=M4e6poUR&mv_pc=8631

Fans, Fittings, and Tubing: TBD... I feel like its a commodity product.

Does it make sense to have all the water blocks made of the same material (i.e. nickel plated)? Also, does it matter to keep everything one brand or mix and match? Is there a need for a GPU backplate (other than aesthetics)? Please advise?

Thanks!

No need for gpu backplate but the one on your GPU atm will not fit anymore.
Doesn't matter about the material being different.
Can use different brands just make sure your connections are same(i.e G1/4)

Ok I got that radiator and it is really thick. I though I was gonna use it at the top of my case but it didn't fit. Also I don't think one 240mm rad is enough to cool your cpu and video card
