Hi all,

My asrock 970 extreme3 r1.0 burned out due to a faulty power supply. I am now trying to replace the motherboard with an asrock 970 extreme3 r2.0 with all other computer components staying the same. will my current hdd be able to boot windows once installed using previous drivers from the r1 board?

Cheers.

Your question about existing motherboard drivers is irrelevant because when you change the motherboard (even one that's from the same manufacturer) you must re-install Windows from scratch using your Windows installation media.

This is necessary because the Hardware ID in the registry of your existing Windows installation does not match the new motherboard.

Plus, at a simpler level, Windows does not tolerate being 'moved' from one motherboard to a different one.

Install Windows, then install the drivers which apply to the new motherboard, starting with the Chipset driver first.
