Athlon x4 860k or FX 6100

I'm buying a budget gaming machine, and it's supposed to run smoothly all new games (mostly FPS and RPG) for at least 3 years. Now, I'm looking for a CPU to pair with R7 260x or R7 265 (still in doubt about that?), and I don't plan on upgrading it (only OC).

My main competitors are Athlon x4 860k and FX 6100... I could perhaps stretch to FX 6300 or some kind of Intel, but then I'll have to save up on GPU and MBO.

P.S. I'm playing on the 1280x1024 monitor now, but it could go up to 1440x1080.

Solution
Ok, between those two CPUs I would wait for the 860K.

Regarding GPUs I found these links which may help with your decision:

http://www.benchmark.pl/ranking/porownanie/radeon-r7-265-vs-radeon-r9-270

I would choose the 270, depending how much more it is in your area compared with the 265. If they are very slimier in prices go for the 270. If not the 265 would still be a great choice.

Sorry about my previous post.

Hello!

Here is a good CPU to go with your parts:

Both are very good for the money, either one would be an excellent choice.

Regarding GPU choices, stretching your budget to a 270x or 280 would be a great investment. If you don't plan on overclocking, you can save a decent amount of money to put towards to GPU and CPU, by getting a H97 or H87 board. You won't be able to overclock with a "H" board, but in most cases a "Z" board is more expensive, then a "H" board.

Sry, but there is just no way I can go that high on CPU, it's like 50% more cost, even Intel Core i3-4150 or FX 6300 would be a budget problem already... Can't save that much on MBO.

I can go max R9 270 on GPU, but it's not really much better than Asus R7 265. :(

Playing games at that resolution, nothing is really going to hold you back.

I would recommend the Athlon x4 860K simply because it will give you better single-threaded performance, and the motherboard will probably come with better/newer features.

Thank you a lot both, I've made my mind about the CPU now, but you made me question my GPU choice...

XFX R9 270A 2GB DDR5 (2 year warranty)
Asus R7265-DC2-2GD5 (3 year warranty + Asus has great cooling)
GIGABYTE AMD RADEON R9 270 OC (3 year warranty, more expensive)

Just to fit it in, my configuration will be:

CPU Athlon x4 860k + LC POWER LC-CC-95 cooler
MBO - perhaps you would be so good to recommend me one (CPU OC frendly) from here up to 500kn: http://goo.gl/82ngk6
RAM Crucial 4GB DDR3 1600 Mhz (PC3-12800) CL11
PSU SILVERSTONE Strider Essential ST50F-ES230, 500W, 80+
HDD Western Digital WD5000AAKS-00A7B2 SATA 2 (later I will add SSD)

Thank you once again, and sorry if I went a bit offtopic :)

For a motherboard, from the site you linked, I would choose this one: http://www.futura-it.hr/katalog/komponente/maticne-ploce/socket-fm2/ga-f2a68hm-ds2/

It has a pretty good bang for the buck, because even spending upwards of 500kn does not allow you to have better features.

As for graphics cards, the Gigabyte R9 270 OC edition would give you the best out-of-the-box performance, by a small margin. Any R9 270 would be a good pick for you.

The 270 is one of the best cards for your money, and the motherboard Calculatron suggested would be great for your build. Gigabyte have a great balance between features, quality and cost. Features you will use, at a great cost and reliable.

Hope this helps!

So it is settled, I'll take your picks gentleman :)

This MBO even has integrated graphics, which I don't really need but it's a plus!
I'll take the XFX r9 270 (hope that one year less warranty will not cost me), at 1280 or 1440 resolution it should be ultra for all games in next 3 years.

Thank you both once again.
