Hello,

For a while now, I have been experiencing screen freezes where I have to reboot my system before I can do anything. Prior to these freezes, I used to have the typical message of "Nvidia Driver has Stopped Working" and the screen would turn black, then return to desktop. I experienced distorted sound leading up to the driver ceasing to work. I no longer have this issue, as it has been replaced with out right freezing that requires a reboot as afore mentioned. I've done some scouring and have run myself through the usual list of potential fixes with no luck:

- Rolling back to previous drivers / updating drivers
- Flashing Bios
- Performing all necessary system updates
- Monitoring graphics card temps

The only other thing I can think it being is that my GPU is faulty and needs changing or my PSU needs changing, as it may not be providing enough power to the GPU. Below are my specs and a screenshot of HWMonitor with my power and heat readings:

- CPU:Intel i7 3770
- CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Prime SD1484
- Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus V Gene
- RAM: 16GB Corsair 1600mhz Vegeance (2 x 8GB)
- Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0GB/s
- Second Hard Drive: 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0GB/s
- Graphics Card: Nvidia Gainward 2GB GTX 670 (Reference Card)
- Sound Card: Onboard Audio 7.1 Audio
- PSU: 700W Xigmatek
- Case: Zalman Z9 Plus

Any answer anyone can give me will be most appreciated. I need desperately need my comp for work and plan to build a new system sometime next year, but if either part direly needs replacing, I can just about afford it. Thanks in advance encase I don't see answers for a while. I come to this forum because people have been really nice and helpful before :)

How do you figure?

I performed Memtest86+ for upto 12 hours and it showed no errors in the memory. I could perform more tests by testing one stick at a time (as I left both in). But why would this cause the screen to completely freeze?

No, not just a desktop. I usually have my browser open, some word documents and 3D modelling software:

- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Word
- 3DS Max

It usually happens after a couple of hours of use. Funny enough though, never when playing games. I played Dark Soul's for 4 hours last night, not a single issue.
