A RAM Question

I plan to get the Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz low profile DDR3 XMP ram for my build, 32gb of it to the end of future proofing my system in case I want to do some sort of crazy project that requires a whole bunch of ram. Are there any better types of ram I should know about? I was told by a friend to go for the xmp ram, is he right?

I'm going to get an Intel i7-4790k and the XFX R9 290 with an Asus Z97-A motherboard if thats what you mean

It's Gskill and your board can easily run 2400mhz with your setup.
