I was wondering if this configuration would work well as a gaming pc. I'm a noob at building and figuring out what components work with what and I'm not sure if this is even in the right category for this thread or if its allowed to post external links. but here is the link to the wish list with all of the components thank you all who helps!

I was leaning towards an AMD processor at first, but then I saw a few benchmarks and saw that even though they score around the same as Intel in passmark benchmarks when it comes to real world gaming performance they lag behind.

I can't seem to find the benchmarks, but if I do I'll post them here. I went ahead and bought a Core i5 4690K bundled with an AsRock mobo at Microcenter for just around $250. So far the setup has been able to handle every game I've thrown at it with ease. I have the same video card that you chose the GTX 960, and I'm playing BF4 at 1080p on Ultra.

Thanks for the comment Vic. I am still going to stick with my 8-core as it supports multi-threading whereas Intel does not(Read that on a thread). Games will support Multi-threading more and more and the AMD processor with come out on top in performance in the future and Intel will stay relatively the same (for multi-threaded apps). As for the PSU, what do you mean by tier one or two, is my PSU thats in my list not good quality or? USD for currency. Once again, thanks for the comment!

The i5, and ALL dual-core and higher and Hyper-Threaded CPUs support multiple threads.

The i5-4690K is a great gaming CPU and will run 4 threads, the i7 will do 8.

Power supply should be fine, EVGA overall is a good brand, but I don't know if that specific PSU has issues or not. Not all products from a brand are the same quality. See if you can find a review on it.
