Hi all, i need some help.

I have some FPS problems with Heroes of Newerth.First of all, i have the game installed on my SSD. I get those weird 3-second back to back spikes for like 9-seconds in total. It's not happening all the time but it does happen every game once or twice. Whenever it does happen, i can hear the disk make some spinning noise. I'd love some help if any of you has any clue what is happening.

My PC specs:
120gb Samsung SSD 840 EVO
1tb HDD
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660
Intel Core i5-4690k CPU @ 3.50GHz
8gb RAM
64-bit Operating System
Windows 7

Thanks in advance.

My guess it would be your internet speed or your connection to their server. I run Lord of the Rings Online and Everquest on my EVO 840 SSD and i never have hiccups unless their servers are having problems. I have almost the same specs as you besides my HIS ICEQ HD7890 card.

I doubt there's a problem with my connection but seeing as i can hear the disk spin inside the box when i get the fps spikes, it must have something to do with the ssd no?

SSD's have no moving parts, so you would not be able to hear it "spin." There must be some hard disk (HDD) activity occurring during the game. Possibly some game files, or other program files that are active when you get the spikes. How is your ram usage while gaming, and where is your paging file?

If the game is installed on your SSD and not your 1TB drive you should not hear anything spinning. SSD drives make almost no noise even under full load. Is your OS on your regular HDD?

Paging file is in the ssd ( C: ) i believe. In the virtual memory tab it says C: - System Managed & E: [HDD] - None.
Also i have it set to automatically manage paging file size for all drives.

About the RAM
Usage is around 4.98gb while i am gaming.

Physical Memory (MB)
Total: 8076
Cached: 2356
Available: 2971
Free: 678

Kernel Memory (MB)
Paged: 267
Nonpaged: 106

Well if your OS + your MMO is on your SSD with great connection you should have no lag at all unless its coming from their servers. If you have other programs/web stuff running from your HDD then when that spins it will hiccup your machine. Close everything down then play. You have enough memory and GPU power to play that game fine.
