although currently i do not plan to have a pc with sli, i would prefer to not have to change my mobo to get sli in the future so i can play on higher resolutions than 1080p? Basically does this mobo support sli/ crossfire

Yes it supports a maximum of 2 graphic cards, just make sure you have enough wattage to power up those 2 cards, hope that answers your question.
