Hey Parth. Basically you can use it as a main/system drive, but I wouldn't recommend it. The WD Purple drive is specifically designed with features making it a very good option when it comes to surveillance. There are a couple of better options, such as the WD Blue drive which is designed for general usage and if you want a bit more under the hood, you could always go for a WD Black drive.
So to sum up, yes, you could use it, but I would recommend that you chose one of the other drives if you have that option.
