My Laptop doesn't find Wifi connections, I have to restart computer several times (~15 times) until it finally shows WiFi networks.

Often when I start my PC there is the "No LAN Cable connected" symbol in the corner, which means it can't find any of the several WiFi networks in my neighborhood and I cannot connect to the internet until I restart it several times, until the WiFi bars show up as a symbol instead.

After that it works perfectly and stays connected for the entire session, but it takes me up to half an hour to get there and it's only getting worse.

Please help I'm getting real tired of having to restart my PC about 30 times a day. :C
It is not the connection's fault since it works for all my roommates and I've had this problems with several other WiFi networks ,so it is definitely my computer. I am not sure if hardware or software. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The laptop is a HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15, with Windows 8.
