I'm experiencing incredibly high idle temps on my rig. Any ideas why?

Yes, agreed these temps are too high.

Open the case and vacuum out any and all dirt, and make sure the fans can turn freely.

If no improvement, remove the heatsink, and reapply a good thermal compound.

Next step is a better cooler. The included one with these AMD chips is not too good, and the aftermarket stuff is better.

The idle temps are too high, almost reaching the maximum recommended temperature.
Are you having a stock cooler or any aftermarket cooler?

I am too having a FX-8320, OC'd to 4.1GHz. I am using Cooler Master Hyper 212x. My idle temps around 36C-42C and under full load, it reaches 55C-59C.

I added 2 new case fans, an exhaust blowing out the top, and an extra intake in the front. Temps now idle at 45-53, while going 58-64 under full load. Using stock heatsink with dynex paste. Not doing too bad if I do say so myself, I'll be replacing the stock heatsink with an Evo 212 when I decide it's time, along with arctic silver paste, because why not?
