Hi all,

Just put together a PC to run as a media server with the following:

GIGABYTE GA-H87M-HD3 Intel H87 (Socket 1150) Micro-ATX Motherboard - rev 1.0
Intel Pentium G3240 3.10GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
4GB (1x4GB) Corsair Value Select 1333MHz CL9 DDR3 Module
CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 Fixed ATX PSU - 430 W

When I press the power button the CPU and PSU fan spin for about a second, then they go off again, then it comes back on again for a second, then off - and so on until I switch the power off on the PSU. No sounds or beeps.

My working theory is that the BIOS needs updating to support this PSU, based on the following BIOS update description for the board:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4517&dl=1&RWD=0#bios

Never experienced this behaviour on a PC build or dealt with an incompatible CPU - so am hoping for some guidance from the smart folks on here.

Thanks,

pk

Without a question the BIOS needs to be updated for that CPU. When a computer turns off and on like that, 99% of the time it is the BIOS. It happened to me when I build my rig. It is a 4790k and a Z97 board. It would post after the third time trying to boot. I got a BIOS update and it worked perfectly.
