Is my custom build good for next gen games at 1600x900 resolution and everything maxed?

Hello to all :)

Here is my custom build:

Processor: i5 4590
GPU: r9 280x
RAM: Kingston hyperx fury 8gb
PSU- Corsair VS 650

Please suggest whether this build will help me max out games at 1600x900 res?

Games like Dragon age Inquisition, Shadow of mordor, Battlefield Hardline, Dying light, Assassins Creed Unity etc.

I recommend you stick with the 280x. Even though the 960 has lower power consumption and a newer architecture, the 280x still performs better in terms of raw FPS and that's the reason people spend money on GPUs. However, make sure you DO NOT get a reference 280x. The AMD reference cooler is terrible IMHO and it kicks out a ton of noise. Get one with a custom cooler like Gigabyte's Windforce series or XFX's Double Dissipation series.

Yeah. Your build looks pretty decent. I recommend going with the i5 4690K so you can overclock your CPU and get more performance and just upgrade your GPU every 2 years. However, if you do not intend to overclock, going with the i5 4690 (Non-K) will be just fine for gaming.

getting a Z97 or H97 mobo would be a fine idea as broadwell is going to support the same socket so it leaves you a nice upgrade path if you wanted but really an i5 is the best bang for buck atm.

Thanks for the reply guys, but some people have their doubts about r9 280x? they say i should go for a gtx 960? will gtx 960 be better as it has only 128 bit memory bus?

280x performs way above the 960, if power consumption matters to you then the 960 wins by far but the 280x is a better card imo.
