I've running an DDR3-2133 on my system for about 2 months now, the only problem is that my system will only run the DDR3 at low speed of 1333 instead of 2133...
I went to bios many times and switched the RAM to 2133 but it goes back to 1333.
After a little research, I came to find out that the memory I'm using is designed for the Intel platform, and I'm running on an AMD platform...

Since I'm looking to buy another 16GB of Ram, my question is; should I buy the same one even knowing it's going to run at low speed of 1333 so I don't loose what I have (need 32GB) or should I go with a specific ram for AMD?

Thanks

Solution
My experience with GSkill on AM3+ has been successful with *XL* and *RL* RAMs --- but I've never tried on MSI. Above 1866MHz you should likely follow their QVL list or 'Test Report'

4x8GB can be tricky if you work outside of their 'box' --- following their recommendations allows automatic support from them.

If you have issues with the top clock speed, focus on finding your lowest timings at a lower level.

On the G.Skill website doesn't say it is compatible with MSI 990 motherboard...

I finally figured out how to set the voltage and timing to my ram type...
Now running at maximum speed of 2133.
Will order another set of 2x8GB

Thanks everyone.

My second set of 16GB is on the way...
The issue I had it with the temperatures was resolved by entering the correct timing and voltage in the bios. For some reason the factory motherboard reset it to the lower speed of 1333 everytime I tried changing to a higher speed, but after manually entering the info in the bios, solved!

Thanks once again.
