I'd like to get the most out of my rig, and I'm wondering if I should (or even need) to overclock my gpu. I know nothing about overclocking, so any advice would be great.

In case it matters, here's my computer:

Corsair 750D case
MSI Z97 G45 Gaming
i5-4690 @ 3.50Ghz
Corsair H100i cpu cooler
16Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Samsung 250Gb SSD for OS and games, 1Tb mechanical for storage
CX750M PSU
2 Asus STRIX GTX980 in SLI
Benq XL2420G monitor

What were u thinking when u brought the machine.
If u wanted to oc u should hv gone with the 4690k cpu which are good for oc. Now ur only option is by increasing the fsb/bclk. When u increase its value u oc every component in ur pc ur gpu, ur cpu, ur ram everything. So u need 2 monitor every value of these 3 components, monitor their temps under full load. It'l b a hard chip to oc.
I hv provided a link for u, its 4 a diff cpu but u can use it for the 4690-

I don't much about oc either but I do know unless you have the k version of the i5 it's really hard to do a stable over clock and you won't get any benefit from it. You need the i5 4690k and you listed the 4690. So I don't think you can over clock with your current processor

I know my cpu isn't oc capable. I hadn't planned on oc in the first place when I built this pc. But GPUTweak says I can oc my 980's so I thought maybe I'd look into that.
