Hello good people of this forum

I've just built my very first build out of case as wanted to make sure it was all good, but when I booted the first time, i got POST no probs, then CPU Fan Error on POST screen :/

Only one fan was spinning on Kraken X61, everything lights up on the X61, i checked to make sure its in the right fan header as well, but can find anywhere in the manuals about the error

Please help or give me some idea

The online documentation for the X61 is NOT GOOD, but yes go into the BIOS and see what RPM is being reported by the CPU FAN. Is it zero or just a low number? If it is a low number then make sure you have the BIOS set to constant (not temp dependent) setting. If it is zero you will have to find the BIOS entry that says to generate an error in that condition and disable the error. Also see what temps are being reported by the CPU. Is the temp reasonable? If the temp is 30C then the pump is working. To get more info you will have wait until you have an OS installed so that you can use the monitoring software.

That error is the motherboard saying that the device plugged into CPU fan isn't providing the pulses to say it is spinning. The online installation manual for the X61 says that the 3 pin pump connector is supposed to be plugged into the CPU-FAN connection on the motherboard. If the pump does not provide an RPM indicator on the 3 ping plug, you will have to disable the error check in the BIOS. If it does provide the RPM info, but is slower than the minimum specified in the BIOS you will have to lower the minimum.

Ok cool, pretty sure i can figure all that out having built it with no other issues :) It just got me a little worried and yes t was idling at around 28 degrees. I have one other question before i go to fix it....

With it being out of the case, im now going to have to remove the X61, will i have to clean the paste off & reapply? I do have some just in case, but just wanted to double check

It is always BEST to clean and reapply. You will get the best long-term stability that way.
