I am need of some serious assistance on setting up my first media server.
I have built computer systems before but never something on this level. I would like to have the ability to insert a disk into my desktop machine and have it start to automatically begin ripping to the servers hard drives in a folder with the movies title. Once complete it would eject the disk so the process can be repeated. It should pool all of my drives in the server in some fashion. I will be streaming to a ps3, roku, htpc, ipad, and my Galaxy phone, so it should be able to handle transcoding on the fly. I need software and direction on setting it up.
Here is a list of the components I already have for this build:
Case: Fractal Design Node 804
CPU: Intel G3220
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Gene
Memory: G. Skills Ripjaws 8GB DDR3-1600
Optical Drive: Panasonic UJ-265 Blu-ray Writer
Power supply: Seasonic 620w
SSD: 120GB Samsung 840 (OS, programs, etc.)
Media storage: (3x) 3TB Toshiba drives, (1) 1TB western digital drive
I am open to component advice, but really need guidance with setup and execution.
