UPnP preferable, are there any links/articles on how to do this?

And is it possible to connect a SATA Hard drive (2 or 4TB) to the Pi?

Thanks

I think the easiest way to do this would be to use MiniDLNA. Here's an Instructables tutorial to setting the Pi up: http://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Media-Server-MiniDLNA/

SATA HDDs can be used if you purchase an adapter that converts SATA to USB. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HJZJI84/
