EVGA Titan X - superclocked version or not?

Just about to pull the pin on one of these but I can't decided whether it's worth another £50 to get the superclocked version?

Looking at the EVGA website other than the overclock both models appear to be the same ie no special cooling features on the sc version. Am I as well getting the base clock version and just ramping up the clock myself?

That's what I figured but every bit counts. What I was really wanting to know if there are any physical differences between the two or is it just the overclock? Do they use better silicon or cherry pick the better chips? For example will a base clock version top out at say 1200mhz when the SC version could possibly go up to 1400hmz?

Thanks

If you have the money for a Titan X then why not splash out on the SC version? :D I'm fairly sure you'll be able to get a better OC as the base clock has already been raised. I'm also fairly sure that they do choose better chips for the special editions, although that might be just for the higher models (FTW, FTW+ etc.)

if it has acx cooling then the cooling will be better for it as of using better better chips i would imagine there just the same

I see your point, I'd just like to know what it is I am paying the extra money for :p

Basically, with the Titan X version you're paying for:
- Higher base/boost clock speed
- Probably higher overclocking capability
- A higher binned chip (not sure on this)

You don't get any 3rd party coolers on Titans, sadly.

you may aswell just get the sc one as you will probably see maybe 2-6fps more than normal one

Okay thanks guys. I've pulled the pin on the SC version, hopefully this will OC even further.

BTW this card is for rendering Octane in C4D and Element 3D in After Effects, anything that lets me scrub on the timeline that little bit faster is a massive bonus.

Please stop writing bad information. All Titan X have the reference cooler. The SC version has a better out of the box clock speed. +150mhz. These are not binned differently only the higher version of EVGA are(classified/FTW). I have 2 stock ones and they can overclock +250mhz without any issues. If you can get to SC version, get it, as you wont need to manually oc, but otherwise the reference is really good. You can even get more out of them if you flash a custom bios. Videocardz used a aftermarket air cooler and is getting +550mhz on the core with ease.
