I'm going to be building a mini itx pc for one of my friends but I'm unsure if there's enough space as I'm new to mini ITX. These are the spec's:

- BitFenix Prodigy M Arctic White MicroATX Mini Tower Case
- MSI Z87I AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard
- Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card
- Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
- Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
- Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
- Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
- Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

It's mainly just the DVD drive that I'm worried about and I'm not sure if maybe i can get a smaller gpu instead as he would really like a DVD drive.

You don't need to use a mini ITX motherboard to make room for the DVD drive. If you're using a MicroATX case then I would use a MicroATX motherboard to give you the most motherboard ports and options for upgrades. Does he need Wi-Fi? The build looks decent other than the Z87 chipset motherboard and low quality PSU. Here is what the build would look like with my minor modifications. The price goes a bit over budget since you will only be purchasing from Amazon. The price was right at the upper end of the budget when considering other online retailers.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£173.00 @ Amazon UK)

Sorry, this is my first post so it's all very confusing for me but the system will be used for mainly gaming while a little work on the side. It will be bought in July sometime at his birthday.

The price range will be £400-£600 ($600-$900).
It will probably be over clocked and a 1080p monitor will be bought.
Everything will be bought from Amazon.
I'm getting a mini itx motherboard as i still want space for a DVD drive or does it not matter?

I think that's everything to mention.

I didn't include a CPU cooler because it would push the price further over budget. You won't be able to overclock much without an aftermarket cooler.

Thanks shortstuff_mt that's really helpful. He can just buy a usb network adapter for a little extra so that won't be a problem and he won't really have to over clock but if he does he can just get one for about £20 so no problem there either. Looks like I'm sorted thanks!

Hi shortstuff_mt site won't let me send you a PM. Would you please edit your wonderful Won't Boot Checklist to include Replace Dead Battery. Looks like a lot of Acer just die when there batteries do. I got a free computer out of it but it's just ridiculous that people are tossing $600 machines because the battery died!
