I know it's normal, but I want to know if anybody can explain why a drive can't hold it's said capacity?

ex. I bought an Intel 530 series 120GB SSD, it shows the capacity (on my computer) is 111GB.

Why? Well, I don't know, anyone else?

No, its not because stuff is installed. It is decimal vs binary.
A 120GB drive will show to be 111GB
A 250GB drive will show to be 232GB
A 1TB drive will show to be 931GB
A 2TB drive will show to be 1.81TB
A 3TB drive will show to be 2.72TB

There is nothing wrong. That's just the way it is. It depends on what tool is reading that space.
