Windows won't install on new laptop hard drive?

So, I grabbed a new drive for my laptop. I put it in, burnt an ISO using my desktop, and tried installing. I do a custom install, but windows does not detect a drive. I connect the drive to my desktop to see if it is recognized, and it does. It works fine. For whatever reason, the laptop does not recognize the drive. Anyone got any ideas?

What does the BIOS in the laptop say? (Usually, on the power-up it shows a logo and says Press F2, F10, Esc <whatever> to go into the bios setup.)

If the BIOS can't see the drive I don't know, if if does see it you might need to switch modes. Read this:

So, I plugged it into my other computer to see what it says. It now lists the drive as RAW. It says "232.76 GB RAW" next to it in disk management in W7.

I'm assuming that's in the desktop? When connected to the laptop, reboot and get into the BIOS. Tell me what you see.

BTW: It's raw because it hasn't been formatted. You can format it in the desktop but that won't help if the Laptop can't recognize the drive.

Alright, the drive is now formatted using NTFS, one partition is taking up the entire drive. I put it in, and it still tells me that there is no drive in the computer. It also says I should try and fine the driver for the disk, but the HDD came with nothing, and I don't have anything from Toshiba. Any chance I could find the driver for the Toshiba Satellite c655d-s5300?

You need to see if the drive is setup correctly, you can get into the BIOS by:

GO Here:
http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=3133792

Click On 'Knowledge Base' tab

Click On 'BIOS' on the left

This will show you how to get into the BIOS to see if the laptop can see the drive (hardware)

You can search through the forums for more info, you need to HOW the laptop is talking to the drive:

Went into the boot priority tab and for HDD/SSD there is nothing listed next to it. So the problem is the computer now? I don't understand how this is possible, I took the drive out, put the new one in and attempted to install windows on it.

You might need to switch the SATA mode to COMPATIBILITY:
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Troubleshooting/SATA-Controller-mode-get-changes-automatically-from/m-p/482305/highlight/true#M59151

..OR Change the UEFI password:

Good Luck

The BIOS just keeps switching it back to AHCI mode. As for the UEFI password, there is nothing like that in the BIOS.
