I just added 2GB to my computer, which now makes 4GB, but now I am showing that only 2.94GB of Ram is available. Is it normal to have 1.089MB of Ram dedicated as "Hardware Reserved". It seems too much, but maybe it is normal. I have an older computer, but I am running 8.1. My CPU is at 2.2 GHz

It might be the most you motherboard recognizes. If your gpu is integrated, 1089 MB sounds about right, 1024 for the gpu, the rest for ethernet and other stuff. You should be able to reduce the amount dedicated to the gpu in your bios. If you reduce it and the amount showed is the same, then your motherboard can't see more than 3GB.
