How to remove "Recent Places" completely from Windows 7?

As in the title: I don't mean "how to clear items from Recent Places", or "how to remove it from the desktop". I mean remove it altogether, completely, never to return.

I don't use it and don't want it, but most of all it bugs me that I can't figure out how it's done - if it's even possible! Oh, and also so I don't have to clear it every time I look at things I dont want others knowing about.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks very much for the help, but I don't want to remove recently used programs from the Start menu - I want to remove the "Recent Places" folder altogether, as in the one that appears in Explorer under "Favorites". Perhaps it just can't be done... I appreciate the help nonetheless. Cheers!

Thanks! Again, not quite what I meant but I did find a solution. Although the "Recent Places" in Explorer doesn't have a "delete" option, you can drag it to the Recycle Bin and it seems to have disappeared at least for now! Wouldn't be surprised if it comes back when I reboot...
