Safe CPU Temps

I am a gamer that uses a high performance laptop (Lenovo y410p) that can run most games really well.
However, i am worried my laptop has a problem with getting too hot, and i do not want to damage the cpu or gpu.
I decided to get MSI Afterburner to monitor cpu and gpu temps.
While browsing the web (and obviously having msi ab running), I noticed that the cpu temps were hovering around 55 Celcius. I feel like this is really high but I honestly have no idea.
Is this a safe cpu browsing temp?

Prem Desai,

What is your ambient temperature?

Laptops have higher Core temperatures at idle than PC's so as to minimize power consumption at the cooling fan, which is why the fan only runs when necessary. Idle in the mid to high 40's is fine.

Mobile processors are the same silicon as their desktop counterparts. They share the same Tjunction Max value of 100c, which is Throttle temperature, and is far too hot for normal operation.

Core temperatures under 80C are fine.
