Are 5 fans going to be really loud?

I am making a new animation PC and for rendering 3D stuff, the whole computer load gets to around 93-97% load. I will be using a Define R5 case with the sound dampening foam in it but I just didn't know how loud the thing was going to get. I will be using the stock NZXT Kraken x61 fans and 3 Noctua 140mm Silent fans. With pretty much everything running at full RPM how loud is this thing going to be and should I cut down on the fans or maybe replace the x61 fans with silent ones.

Just take out the stock fans and you should be okay. Check your temperatures, and if you really have to, replace them with noctuas.

larger case fans at lower rpm's will be the quietest. Keep them at lower rpm's where possible.

If you replace them all with noctua fans, it shoulndnt be too bad, i have a non silent case with 6 120mm fans. just make sure that you screw all fans down well to reduce vibration, and although you say you need them running at full rpm, i highly reccommend running them at 90%... its astonishing how much of a difference in sound you'll see. Also, make sure you get PWM fans and connect them so that the motherboard can make them run faster when it's required because of heat. That will help a lot.

I'm going to have a fan controller at the front of my case which will be controlling at least my intake fans but should I also plug in my x61 fans or should keep those separate

It's up to you, but if you have room to put them on the controller, why wouldn't you?

Multiple fans may actually make for a quieter system if you use a fan controller to turn them down. My pc case isn't a 'silent' version, if anything with all the ventilation it's probably one of the louder type cases. Running a 200mm intake, 3 140mm exhausts in addition to the gpu fan and 2 cpu fans. It's pretty quiet. Even though I have more exhaust than intake, they're turned way down using multiple slower fans for low rpm while maintaining airflow volume. I think the loudest fan on the system is probably my gpu fan.

Except that if you can use fewer fans, turned down, then adding more fans just increases noise without affecting performance much. Just saying - it's an issue of balance.

That's what I meant. 6 fans at 30% speed beats 3 fans at 90-100% speed for noise. Linus has shown 12 fans can be quieter than a pin dropping. It doesn't have to be a ridiculous number of fans but fan noise doesn't have to relate purely to numbers. A 6 fan system doesn't have to be loud.
