Hello guys,
Longtime lurker, first time poster
Currently got an outdated 6320 Duo at 1.86 with r7 250 and 8ram and looking to get something that wont force me to run games at or near minimum settings.
The build I'm looking for will be used for gaming mostly (tho I dont play shooters - I like simulation/rts/strategies games in general, currently playing Cities: Skylines for example) and watch sports streams online, which I can already easily do with my current setup so I doubt getting an AMD or an i5/i7 makes much of a difference for that.
I dont need an OS (got win 7), already got the mouse/keyboard/screen/speakers so looking for cpu/mb/psu/ram/case/video card. I already have a DVD burner (not a bad one actually) but wouldnt mind getting a new one for my new system so my old tower keeps that one and remains usable. I'll need a new ethernet card so as to keep my current one in my current tower.
In regards to the HDD, I currently got a 1TB (either Seagate or WD) and a smaller one (roughly 100gigs) that I am currently only using for my OS, both SATAs if I recall right. I plan on keeping the 1TB and could keep the other as well but, I`d be open to changing if there`s any speed gain to be had.
I used to be a hardcore gamer and follow every new techs/parts coming out, staying informed but last 10 years, I havent been gaming as much as therefore, I gotta say, I'm a bit out of the loop in regards to that now.
Been looking at different things the last few days and here`s what I came up with so far:
Here Here!
It doesnt have to be an AMD per say, tho the price difference compared to Intel makes them enticing.
I live in Canada (Québec city) so will likely order online (unless there's a computer store I'm unaware of in the province).
Concerning the MB, I'm currently connected to a screen via a VGA plug, but wouldnt mind using an HDMI. Tho I suspect this is standard with most MBs nowadays.
I dont intend on OCing and am planning on keeping the build for at least 3 years.
Also, concerning the budget, anything under 1000$ would be nice. The 5 parts at neweggs are roughly 800$ + about 40 for taxes and 10$ for shipping, so 850$ total. I'm pretty sure the above list can be optimized... I wouldnt mind saving as much as I can, tho I wont mind spending a bit more (keyword is a bit more) if it makes sense, quality wise.
Any help is more than welcome.
Thanks alot, Mark.
