Desktop icons showing up on metro in 8.1?

It's probably a glitch.

Try going to the Start Screen (Windows Button) -> Charms Bar (*for laptops swipe from right of touchpad* Mouse in the top right corner -> move downwards) -> Settings -> Personalize -> icon on the lowest right (desktop wallpaper)
