Hello,i want to buy a new pair of Ram but i need to know some things first.I have a Gigabyte ga-p67a-d3-b3 with an intel i7 2600k.I'm not planning to overclock yet but if i would, what will it be difference to the right choice? I am looking for 2x8.What should i check about the memory frequency and cas latency.Maybe 16gb is more than i need? I mostly use pc for gaming but sometimes i do heavy multitasking and use heavy programms/games .I just want to look a bit in the future.I would be glad to see your preferences. Thanks!!!

16GB is not out of the question for RAM in a PC. Generally speaking, you won't see that much benefit from faster RAM unless you're doing stuff like video encoding or other RAM intensive tasks. As a rule if thumb anything 1600 MHz or faster is good enough, if you're going to be encoding huge 4k video files or something very often you will want the fastest stuff your motherboard/CPU combo will support.

Your current configuration looks to support a maximum XMP (Default overclocking via intel memory profiles) of 1600 MHz with 16GB. (There is no listed stock overclocking profile for a 2X8 GB kit for the listed processor, only 4X4 GB. You may have to do some extra work if you want to bring it up to higher speeds.)
