GTX 970 a bit hotter after installing CPU cooler.

Hello!

I've installed evo 212 on my CPU and have been noticing that MSI GTX 970 temps get somewhat hotter (5-7*) than when I had my stock CPU cooler. Also, after a gaming match when I quit the game the GPU temps take a bit longer to get back to normal load. What can this be?

I got rear 1 and top 2 fans blowing out hot air, maybe the evo 212 is blocking the hot air from my GPU? I haven't changed anything besides that. No dust in the case. There is some whitish/dusty thin thin layer on GPU PCB, but that has never been a problem either. I can provide pics from inside the case if needed.

The obvious answer would be that, as the Evo 212 occupies quite a bit more of space, it's interfering with your case airflow.... I wouldn't worry too much, unless the card is getting into the high 80sº C.

Hmm. I thought maybe I did something to my GPU when putting it back again after evo 212. I could maybe turn the heatsink, maybe? So that the evo 212 is facing my GPU PCB that way it "pulls" in the air around my GPU and back towards the top 2 fans. Now the fan is facing my RAM bricks.

So.... let me see if I got this straight. You want it to pick up the hotter air of your GPU to cool down the CPU? I would leave like it currently is, but I don't know. I'm way more comfortable having a hotter GPU than CPU. What actual temps are you getting?

Oh, shit. Sorry. I didn't even understand my previous post. I meant my fan is facing ram bricks and that I could maybe try to put it facing the PCB of my GPU, but you understood it what I meant anyway. But, you are right, though. Why would I wanna let the EVO fan blow hot air into the huge heatsink which is supposed to be cooled down. I was thinking that I would free up some space for the GPU, but yeah..

It's not like I'm getting much higher temps now than before, but there is a difference.

I've seen it around 55 celsius with the fans spinning at 30% power. But I do believe they did the same before. I cant remember...should have taken pics, though. I have tried it with CS:GO. I got no other games installed. BF4 was no problem at ULTRA temp wise back a couple of months ago. 55 with the fans spinning.

My MSI gtx 970 was "hanging" down a little bit at the very end. You could clearly see it, so I have "pulled" it up and now its straight - using some plastic restraints, they are very good. But that cant be it either, because it should be "comfortable" now, before it was uneven and hanging down, you know.

When I put the GPU in, my 6+2 pin connector wasn't fully connected and I mean the 2 connector, 6 was in and of course the other 6 pin too. It sort off gave me unusual temps, too. I fixed it after that. Made it straight and put the 6+2 pins in the way they are supposed to be, it did give me cooler temps. It gave me 40 celsius on idle, rofl, now its more normal - down at 33-35

Yeah, my MSI GTX 970 is also hanging down a bit. I'll maybe try to do the same as you if it starts bothering me. I wouldn't mind about the temps at all if they're the ones you stated. Mine runs at 56º C whilst on full stress and I find it a huge improvement over my previous card (87º or something ridiculous, I'm not quite sure). Is everything already and you more calm now? If so I'm glad to have helped you in any way I did. If you're unsure about something though feel more than free to ask!

Cheers!
