Hey,I'm from India and still using Nokia 6070. (Imagine!) Had a Galaxy Y. Got stolen. Whatever, wanna a buy budget smartphone within 1 month for $170 or 10K in INR(approx). What should I go for? The thing is that I got eyes on Lenovo K3 Note. Is it going to be launched in India that soon? Just suggest me one. Baffled.

I'm not sure there's going to be much we can do to help you, mate.

1) Cell phone availability is HUGELY different based on what country you're in, which means that any budget phones that I could recommend aren't going to be available to you.

2) India gets royally screwed on electronics, which means that there's no way of me knowing what that 10k INR is actually able to purchase, because you guys only get old electronics that are overpriced.

what darksable said is partially true. imported goods have extra taxes placed on them increasing the final price by 30%

hence if you want it cheap and of good quality , go for indian brands

i believe ther was an old article (few months) on toms about the yureka phone.

generally if you want better price/performance or service , it is better to buy local brands ( like micromax , karbonn in india, apple, lumia in US , practically everything else in china)
this applies for all countries

OP - do you care about brand image/value? or would you prefer local , locally well known /established goods?

All I care about is an usable regular phone cuz there are more things to shell out on except phones. Btw,I do really care about single thread performance.I do follow geekyranjit on Y.T and he's like hush hush about this phone. Actually,I research and suggest phones to a ton of friends as they ask me when they buy and their budgets are quite higher than mine. My beloved (LOL) phone Nokia 6070 is getting weaker day by day. When my turn came,I'm asking Tom's cuz I suddenly became an idiot.Uthvag,in Kolkata.Micromax has a very poor service, that's why I do stay in fear.

hmmm

karbonn or other local brands?

otherwise , samsung/lumia is the choice for you

Actually , i dont know why these phone guys keep on increasing core numbers and ram , while single threaded power lags.

anyway if you you want quality , go for sony

before that - Uses / preferences?

Lenovo K3 white. Don't know if its gonna get launch in India. The name with K3 doesn't get launched here. Probably with other name. It has 401 ppi which attracting me A LOT. If it true,K3 Note is equally priced with Lenovo A7000 but with better display and possibility of ceramic speaker (no need for that though :D ). MedTek has more cores with poor thread rendering. Ahh!!!!! I'm fickling too much!
