GPU Problem -- Help

Hey guys i have a sapphire 5850 toxic HD 2 GB which i am trying to use but i freeze at the window 8 spinning wheel with one dot. I had this issue with a Asus GTX 650 DirectCU

My Specs :

CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (Tryed at stock and overclocked)
RAM: DDR2 Kingston 800 8GB
GPU: Trying to use Sapphire 5850 Toxic HD 2 GB
MOBO: GA-G33M-S2 rev 1.x
PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO750W

4 HDD'S
1 DVD Drive

Also when try onboard it works perfectly fine

update your bios if there's an update available (running the onboard graphics)

What bios version are you running? I have run into an instance where I had to update a bios for a new video card to work. I think it had to do with pci-e 3.0 going into an earlier pci-e 2.0 or pci-e 1.0 slot. They are supposed to be backwards compatible, but it needed to have a bios update.

I am running F7J However the newest is currently on site F7K

When I use @BIOS Update using gigabyte server i can only find F7J the newest

I updated the BIOS Using @BIOS With the f7k file. Tomorrow I will be trying the gpu again

BTW It's a Sapphire 5850 2GB Cypress PRO - PCI-E 2.0 X16

do a clean reinstall of all drivers, (catalyst) from amd.com, uninstall all nvidia related, uninstall also any previous catalyst and then reinstall the new one...

install also the latest intel drivers for the motherboard.

double check the pci ex power connectors - and all power connectors, test the card in another pc if possible...

also try the card on the second pci ex connector, (tilt the case first to avoid it bending) and only if your second pci ex slot (orange one) is open ended!

So I decided not to go forward with this as when trying to put in orange slot the gpu is to big so it hits the sata cable on the mobo which means i can not install it

yep, you're right, it's gonno cover them... all 4 get covered? don't you have any of those tilted sata cables?

one of these might fit below the card for a bit of testing.

it's just to figure out if it's the card's fault or slot. the fact that you had the same issues on another card seem to suggest it's not a card problem but something else...

Ye I think your right I only have one L shaped SATA which is already connected

so just to test, leave just the main hdd on that sata and move the card to the pci ex 4x, it may run slower but it should function. just tilt your case sideways while you test such that the card doesnt bend the port (so it sits upright on the slot)

So trying that is impossible as the card covers all the sata ports
