Plenty of them. If you've had 'dozens' maybe you don't have dependable power and you're frying all of them. No one has that much bad luck without a reason.
May be, but I'm speaking for the last 10 years or so, having tried around 25-26 different routers from pretty much all brands. Seriously, they all sucked and this seem to be some kind of consumerism scheme where people always buy new routers. Based on my personal entourage, most people don't realize that their router sucks and this is why they don't complain like I do. They end up rebooting it or having bad performance in Wifi all the time, then buying a new router each 2 years.
I paid 2000$ in 2006 for a computer that is still running perfectly fine right now, running on the same power source and build with Intel parts. Why there's no real router alternative built with real high-quality processors ? Don't tell me to dedicate a PC tower to being a router, I obviously though about it, but my router need to be placed in the living room for maximum range and have a good looking appearance.
I'm kind of depressed about the state of this sheep-like industry...
