OK so just a heads up I've been working on this problem for a while and I'm losing my patience.
Most likely irrelevant information: The last thing I was doing on my PC was connect my HTC to it and syncing some songs, this kept on crashing windows explorer. I turned off my PC and went to work
About a week ago when I got home from work I turned on my PC and I got no display, Windows has booted (as I could here me log in as I typed my password and hit enter)
First thing I tested was monitors and cables. To be specific 2 different monitors 3 different cables and then I used an xbox on the monitor to get display. So it cant be monitor or cables.
Some information got blurry at this point but I'll try to list of exactly what I did. Next thing I replaced was my GPU with an old one I had, that works but was not as good as I wanted. Same thing happened no display but booted windows. Then I used on board graphics I still got a post beep but windows no longer booted at this point.
After this I removed the CMOS battery for 30mins and put it back in, got post beep but again windows did not boot and no display.
Next I tried a different battery, GOT a post screen and then I hit f1 for setup and it just went away, this is the last time I seen any display. I'm almost 100% positive this was just clear luck.
Next up was my RAM, I removed all RAM and got the expected beeps for 'missing memory' or whatever it is.
Then I tried all different combos with my 2 sticks of 4GB RAM, never got display and sometimes it wouldn't post beep but most times it did so I probably seated the RAM wrongly.
After this I replaced my PSU (and CPU cooler, because I wanted a new one) same outcome, post beep but no display.
Next up I replaced the motherboard, exact same thing post beep but no display.
Keep in mind I removed all hard drives and what not for most of this testing and just left in CPU, MOBO, PSU, RAM and sometimes GPU or onboard.
Now I am waiting on RAM to be delivered and I'm kind of expecting it to not work because both ram sticks dying at the same time seems odd to me
What I'm asking is could this be a RAM problem, more importantly could this be a CPU problem because I will be unhappy to have to replace that. Or could this line up towards something I'm not even thinking of.
Please can I get either further question or some ideas and insight. Big thanks to anyone that even gives this a read let alone anyone who's kind enough to respond.
