Again, there is no such thing as "renaming" a drive in the bios. You can set either SATA/AHCI mode or IDE/compatibility mode. You are ALREADY in IDE mode. AND that doesn't matter for drives connected via USB. You can only break things by messing with your bios. Your problem is something entirely different.
You might try moving some files to the SSD to be sure that it is really connected. There could be a problem with your USB connecting cable. Other have said that waiting 30 sec can help EA Gig detect a drive. If none of those work, I would look into other cloning software like Acronis. If windows can see your drive, then the fault is almost certainly with the software.
Perhaps you should take this as a sign to stop using XP-you do know that it is very dangerous to use, right? Windows 8 actually runs quite well on old/slow hardware. Linux Mint runs quite well too and looks a lot like XP without the immediate threat of getting a virus as soon as you go online.
