Why just wait for skylake?DUDE I heard another processor is coming out 6-7 months after skylake.DUDE!!! Wait 4 more years and just keep waiting!!!.

Yeah Waiting for the new and best tech is a bad idea......Do you wanna play games now or wait for a processor that wont have a huge performance increase? I guess thats up to you if you wanna wait.

I5 4690k is flagship product and will be a good processors for many years, for a gaming PC Its best to buy the Best Graphics card you can afford..:p

It depends how long you can wait, you may be looking at a good 6mo or so before skylake is released. We're into the 2nd quarter of this year, broadwell likely won't be until later this quarter or early 3rd and skylake has been pushed back because of the delay in broadwell. Rumors are up to 20% increase, assuming that's based on best case scenario. It also hasn't been put into a system and tested (even then review chips are often cherry picked). Skylake will probably be a marginal performance improvement just like haswell was to ivy was to sandy. The last chip they released for desktop was the 4690k and claims made directly from intel were 5ghz on air cooling which was a bit enthusiastic. It all depends how long you want to wait, what your typical upgrade habits are. Do you upgrade every year, every 2, 3 etc. If you upgrade every other year or every 3rd year, just keep in mind that you'll be looking to upgrade again when that time comes. Waiting 6mo now buys you 6mo, brand new tech from release to 3yrs old is 3yrs old. Doubtful the 4690k will be outdated in two years but had you waited skylake would be viable for four or five years. I don't think you'd go wrong either way honestly, just a matter of preference. I was due for an upgrade coming from a core 2 duo, the 4690k was (and still is currently) the latest they have to offer in an i5. Seeing the four to five year old 2500k still performing admirably I'm not too concerned with it becoming outdated any time soon in terms of usefulness.

Well I would say wait if your pc is performing well enough to wait for a few months more
As for the delay Intel keeps confirming there will be no delay on Skylake and I do believe them since they are losing people's interest and they are trying to jump from the Broadwell wagon quickly
And I do think that skylake will offer better performance and I don't think the 20% is really out of the question since it should be much more power efficient and yet it will be released with 95w TDP and that's even higher than DC 88w TDP and since it's more power efficient I would say that will all go into performance
But if you need the pc now I would say go for it since 4690k is a great processor
Really up to you and how long you can wait

The 4670k or non is 4th gen i think, so skylake being 5th gen... I see a Iphone marketing strategy here, get everyone happy for new generation even-though it won't be a big jump ahead of previous 2 gens.

I am mocking the fact that companies have their customers get excited for new products in new generation and don't make a difference to their previous. If there is a difference I would except 40%+ difference to previous gen before buying the new gen. HINT DONT WAIT FOR i5 SKYLAKE IT WILL BE SAME AS i5 HASWELL. and that is the end of my rant

Just get the 4670k mate, do your self justice and dont wait for their marketing joke to pull you in the box. Skylake will not be a big update to Haswell, just a minor like 4670 was to 3570.

Normally I would agree with Pyre here about what he said but Intel's profits aren't good with the they worked with the 5~10% jump they had ever since Sandy bridge and I normally wouldn't care about the hype mostly but for once I actually think they made decent improvements in this one unlike the older gens since most of the 2500K once nicely OCed can perform closely to 4690K and that's just facts but again wait couldn't hurt if you can manage with your current setup
And what I saw while looking into this for a few months now is that Skylake actually does look promising for once

We'll see friend if Skylake will be "promising", I do doubt it though :D

I think skylake will be an improvement and they may be close to on target. Just not keen on putting all my faith in promises of fictional things, ie a cpu that's not sitting in a bench proving itself. Speculation doesn't count for performance. As for the gen's, broadwell is 5th gen, skylake is 6th gen far as I know. Devil's canyon and haswell refresh were a minor upgrade to the existing haswell and remain 4th gen same as haswell.
