Is 4 gigs of ram enough?

I usually play games and dont run many programs at the same time. Is 4 Gigabyte ram enough?

Windows 7 roughly uses 2GB of RAM on its own nowadays, safe bet is either 6-8GB minimum for gaming.

no. my laptop has only 4G running Win7x64Pro and it's really not great. I don't even game on here and it's burning through 2G of it without batting an eye. 8-12 should be better.

usually the minimum for gaming now days is 8GB. So the answer is No, 4 GB is not enough anymore for gaming.

If you were just running office apps and light web browsing, 4GB would be fine. With any kind of gaming I'd say 6GB minimum, up to the limit of your system/wallet.

Unless you're running DDR4, DDR3 RAM is pretty inexpensive these days and there's little excuse not to have a minimum of 8 GB.

4GB is classified as bare minimum for most machines anymore for general usage. I'd highly suggest doubling it to 8. Not only will performance improve, but you hard drive wont thrash as much from using the swap file.
