running a10 7850k apu with xfx r9 279x

OK I now their is a lot of talk about running a r9 series GPU with a a107840k apu they say its not possible ?
Then why on GPU box it says you can?

Of course you can, however, the Dual Graphics feature will not work. the A10 uses a 250 GPu, anyhting above it would be better than the dual graphics output anyway.
