Hello everyone. I recently want to start a new build and already established the part that i want. But recently i found a used his r9 280x for 170$ and it's still under warranty. He said he's not overclocked it and only use it for gaming but what i'm afraid that he has been used it for mining. So the question is:
1.Is it worh it to get the used r9 280x with risk of being mined?
2,Or should i just buy the 280x and then RMA'd it?
3.Or just stick to the new r9 270x with the same price?

Solution

Wait for the AMD r9 300 series. The 270x ain't old yet and it should keep you happy till the next 1-2 months.

How much longer is the warranty on the card.
I think that if you have at least one more year, you should be ok.

However, for your peace of mind, you might want to go with a new GPU, but lower performance.

Still, don`t think that all R9 280x`s that are used were used for mining. A few months ago I sold my R9 280x Matrix (only gaming, no OC), and upgraded to a GTX 970.
